Mip Design Re-design/Re-branding

First I thought about a re-fresh or update of the current design, rather than going overboard, but I had a moment of creativity and everything got really serious. I decided to do a complete re-branding of Mip Design. That includes Mip Design Studio and Mip Design Themes.

The new design is a big change, with lots of improvements in usability and more suited to big screens.

Wordpress powered

Both sites (studio & themes) are powered by Wordpress so I designed a great premium themes for them. Mip Design Themes was launched last month and Studio is launching now.

Html5 markup

The new site is built in HTML 5 and CSS 3, but I’m still polishing the css file to get it valid.

The coolest part about HTML5 is definitely its offline capabilities. Programs like Thunderbird and Outlook (and now GMail to an extent) let you browse through your old data while staying offline.

What about IE6?

What does it mean for IE6? I really don’t care and I didn’t even bother to test it. I have no problem with IE8, but I still think it’s on the end of browser chain.

Conclusion

There are always things I wish could have been different and there are still some more tweaks to do, but on the end I can honestly say I’m happy with the work I put into. The final result is in front of you and I hope you’ll enjoy your stay.

A Really Good Coffee?

If you are like me, you have to start a day with a cup of coffee. I simply cannot concentrate, my brain demands and my hands are eager to do this little ceremony each morning.

It has been almost 8 years ago I built one of my first websites. It was about coffee machines and I think we did (not my design, I just coded) a pretty decent job.

I started a Coffee wordpress theme last year, but didn’t find the time to finish it. It needs that last touch that will make you want to grab it from your screen.

Vacation Time!

Well, finally come that time of year when I close the shop, send people off, take my familly and go far, far from urban city, crowd and technology to enjoy a well deserved peace.

What this means for you?

This means I’ll be competely offline (no technology, remember) for next two weeks, from August 1st till August 15th. When I come back I’ll answer all your questions (posted here, on Mip Design themes or sent via mail).

A little preview…

By the end of this month I’ll post a free premium wordpress theme on Mip Design themes as a little reward for you all. If you are a regular reader, you’ll recognize it as the theme that started themes on their feet.

This theme has admin panel with color selection, jQuery gallery for portfolio items, 4 widget areas and a couple surprises.

Creating site templates and wordpress themes that we sell on ThemeForest has proven to be quite a project. We get a lot of feedback from you, questions and inquiries about our themes on daily basis. It started to take a lot of our time to give a proper support to all our users, so something had to be done.

First, we thought about writing a couple of tutorials to show you how to enhance our themes to serve your needs. Response was excellent.

Idea was born

During my work on a new wordpress design, we started to talk about new tutorials and a common FAQ for all our themes. One thing let to another and we ended with a pretty long list of ideas and suggestions. Some of ideas would be great for Monty Python site, so we forwarded it to J.C. himself. Along with a person who suggested them

So, we decided to create a project to see those ideas coming to life.
